Looking through photographs earlier today, I came across a few of me painting in the garden at Cae Rhug back in June. It was such a lovely day, far too nice to be inside and with completely still air so no paper flapping. I was able to paint outside amongst the birds and flowers for most of thew afternoon. I love painting outdoors, but usually I only get to make quick sketches and the paints and fibres are kept for indoors later on. This followed a day at Burton Marshes RSPB where I had sketched lots of waders and water birds. The lapwings had young and were particularly obliging. I must go back to see how the season has progressed there, as at Cae Rhug everywhere is showing signs of an early Autumn. I expect the lapwing chicks will be pretty much full grown by now.
